EAT, LAUGH, GIVE
You may have noticed we haven’t blogged for awhile. That’s because we have been so busy preparing for, holding, and recovering from our PREMIERE fundraising event, we just haven’t had the time! Oh, but what an event it was! If you missed it, you truly missed out. Aside from the delicious dinner provided by Continental Services at the Jackson Community College and the scrumptious ice cream buffet where attendees were able to build their own sundae (generously donated by Tom Mathes of Fortune Tommy’s Ice Cream), we were also entertained by the hilarious husband-and-wife comedy team of Kerri Pomarolli and Ron McGehee.
The real highlight of the evening, however, was when our very own Shelby Raines spoke on the importance of Marriage Matters Jackson in our community. She explained how investing in healthy marriage would help drive down childhood poverty, crime, substance abuse and healthcare costs (just to name a few). Study after study indicates children who grow up in intact families are much less likely to become involved in risky behavior, that couples in solid relationships are much more likely to report healthier habits, and communities with strong marriages do better economically. So investing in healthy marriages is one of the best things you can do for your family and your community!
If you weren’t able to make it, but still want to support what we’re doing, you can do so by clicking here and making a tax-deductible donation. With your support, we can continue to offer high quality events and workshops, and together we can make a difference in our community.
