It’s ok to fake it

Do you ever wake up in the morning with the feeling its going to be a really great day?  Or a really bad one?  The direction our day takes depends on what we decide to do with that feeling.  We can act one way and feel another, right?  Some may say that’s not being genuine.  I say, its being who you want to be instead of who you are at the current moment.

We operate under the false assumption that in order to act a certain way, we have to feel up to the task at hand. When in reality, it is usually facing that task without knowing the outcome that creates the strength of our character. We wish that we were more spontaneous or more courageous with our spouses. We wish that we were strong and calm with our children. Then we wait for someone else to make those wishes come true.

Life just doesn’t work that way. We have to act the way we want to be. As Ghandhi would say, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”  Today – ask yourself how you wish you could act and then act that way. Act “as if” you were bold, resourceful, calm, and confident. And eventually, you will be.
